Plant Manager

Right now, we’re looking to add a Plant Manager to our organization to oversee our purchasing, fabrication, assembly, and shipping teams. This high-level position assumes overall responsibility for manufacturing operations to ensure coordination and integration of workflow, budgetary conformance, operation schedules and optimum utilization of staff, machines, equipment, and facilities. In this position, you will formulate strategic short-term and long-term operating objectives in the areas of production efficiencies, quality improvement, cost reductions, new product development, capital expenditures, plant improvements and training.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and monitor day-to-day manufacturing operations.
  • Lead efforts to maintain ISO certification.
  • Provide world-class service to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality, and cost-conscious manner.
  • Coach and mentor all direct reports to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
  • Lead Compliance, as well as Environmental, Health & Safety efforts in support of plant goals.Supervise a cross-functional staff, set team goals, and evaluate progress toward meeting those goals.
  • Continuously strive to improve the operation through increased efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Establish standard reports to provide concise and effective communications to key stakeholders on program status, issues/risks, and accomplishments.
  • Optimize our supply chain by building strong vendor relations and continually evaluating vendor performance and new opportunities, including the creation of new designs and manufacturing processes whenever necessary.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with senior leaders and managers across all functions.
  • Drive improved product quality by identifying manufacturing issues, developing cost-effective solutions and overseeing successful implementation into production.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years leading people in a custom machine manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication, machining, and assembly operations.
  • Outstanding—and we mean outstanding—communication and people skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA-required programs for general industry, and a firm belief that safety really matters.
  • Experience working with accounting and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement projects – CI green belt/black belt a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, business, or related field.

Service Technician — to provide effective in-house and field technical service

Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Our Technical Service Department has a job opportunity available for an experienced, hands-on Service Technician who is detail-oriented and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Additional specialized/trade school education a plus.
  • 5+ years’ field service experience servicing capital equipment
  • Experience with electro/mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings/blueprints
  • Possess a working knowledge of PLCs
  • Being flexible to travel approx. 35% of the time after a 2-3 month training period
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Mechanical Assembler

Responsibilities:

Adhere to required production and quality requirements while striving for maximum quality production at minimum costs. With minimum supervision, assemble a variety of complex machines, sub-assemblies, and prototypes of intricate design to close tolerances. High degree of skill required in assembly, fitting, adjusting and alignment techniques and in the use of equipment required for precision assembly. Work from complex prints, specs, sketches, and verbal instructions and use a variety of precision measuring instruments.

Recommend design changes to Engineering through PCRs and NIPCO recommendations which will improve machine, simplify assembly and/or reduce costs. Notify supervisor of parts shortages or any technical problems which could jeopardize assembly schedules.

Perform diversified work to repair and maintain plant equipment and facilities. Skills used require knowledge of utilities maintenance, machinery location and hook-up including air and other connections, painting, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Also responsible for preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds maintenance.

May direct an “A,” “B,” or “C” Assembler or Trainee as assigned by supervisor and assist in training.

Make service calls outside the plant as required.

Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and adhere to all safety regulations.

Fill out required time and production reports. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Requires over 3 and up to 5 years’ experience.
  • Equivalent to HS plus 4-yr. apprenticeship training.
  • Requires use of complicated drawings and specs.
  • Use variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Broad shop trade knowledge.
  • Makes decisions involving considerable ingenuity, initiative, and judgment.
  • Requires ability to plan and perform a sequence of assembly operations.

Electro-Mechanical Assembler

Responsibilities:

With minimum supervision, performs any combination of the following tasks:

Wire, troubleshoot and debug a variety of electrical sub-assemblies of intricate design; work with programmable logic controllers (PLC);

Work from Assembly Book, blueprints, specs, bills of materials and verbal instructions; and assemble electrical boxes, mechanical components or sub assemblies and pneumatic sub-assemblies of complex machines.

May direct “B” or “C” Electrical Assemblers or Trainees as assigned by supervisor and assist in training.

Makes outside service calls as required.

Requirements:

Requires basic knowledge and skill in electrical and electromechanical theories and practices.

Capable of learning programmable logic controller (PLC) software, following UL508A, NFPA79 and OSHA requirements as they relate to industrial equipment.

Proficiency in working with a variety of hand tools.

Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.  Fill out required time and production reports. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Electrical Design Engineer

OBJECTIVE:

To develop, design, and improve equipment offered for sale, in order to contribute to the future growth of company sales.  Under general supervision, complete a variety of electrical engineering assignments in accordance with design or customer specifications, completion schedules and machine standard cost requirements.  Also undertake more complex assignments with closer direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Prepare electrical designs or design modifications for electrical and/or electronic components/assemblies for company products, assuring the  proper  completion of  electrical design engineering assignments.
  • Prepare bills of materials, installation, and maintenance instructions, or other details as assigned.
  • Investigate and recommend sources of supply for special materials and parts, determine availability and prices as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Visit customer facilities as directed to assist in the solution of problems as they apply to Company products and assist in the installation of Company equipment as required.
  • As directed by the Engineering Manager, advise and assist production personnel with technical problems as they pertain to Company products.
  • Keep abreast of technical progress in the field of electronic equipment design and materials used in the manufacture for equipment. Maintain awareness of standardized products and components for utilization in new product, redesign, or custom engineering projects.  Recommend changes in standardized products or components to improve performance or reduce manufacturing and engineering costs.
  • Coordinate with other dept. personnel involved in assigned projects to assure work is complementary.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in related engineering areas for possible application to assignments
  • Assist in provision of technical information to company personnel as necessary.
  • Perform analyses and computations based on electrical engineering sciences and mathematics to assure design feasibility and adequacy.
  • Undertake special engineering assignments or investigations as required.
  • Prepare all records and necessary accompanying paperwork associated with completed engineering assignments.
  • Upon request of Engineering Manager, provide technical direction or instruction to designers, drafters or dept. clerical personnel.
  • Notify the Engineering Manager of any unusual problems affecting the electrical design of Company equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of a college degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of seven (7) years design experience; includes knowledge of microprocessor controls, electronic and electrical control systems, motors, circuitry, etc., or the equivalent in education and experience.

Machining Trainee

Under close supervision in our 2-yr. Machinist Training Program, Trainees develop knowledge of basic machining procedures and techniques through the performance of a variety of machining operations. Job requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Basic vocational experience with willingness to learn;
  • Strong basic math and computer skills;
  • Only local candidates.

 

 

Machinist, Experienced, to train in Honing

Job Type: Full time, 7 am – 3 pm, Mon-Fri

We are seeking an experienced Machinist who is interested in learning honing to join our Machine Shop team.  The qualified applicant will train with a senior honing machinist to learn this skillset.

Requirements include–

  • Proficiency in working from complex prints, sketches, specs, including geometric tolerances, and verbal instructions;
  • Must be capable of performing highly diversified machining operations to close tolerances and using a variety of precision measuring instruments;
  • 5+ years production machining experience with proficiency in various manual and/or CNC machinery.

Sales Representative

Job Type: Full Time, Salary + Commission

This position requires the skills of a results-driven, highly motivated sales professional with excellent communication skills to join our busy Sales Department.

The responsibilities include obtaining sales objectives by:

  • Achieving annual sales targets in the assigned territories through direct customer solicitation
  • Recruiting, training and working closely with agents to help identify and close prospects
  • Visiting customer facilities to determine equipment requirements and promote sales
  • Routinely traveling locally, internationally and regionally
  • Preparing quotations and customer presentations
  • Preparing field reports and working with management to identify new areas of market penetration and product development

Requirements include:  Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years sales-related experience.  Fluency in more than one language is preferred. Experience in the packaging industry is a plus.
